How to use practice tests correctly
The point is not to memorize answer letters. The point is to learn how the test asks questions. Read every missed question until you can explain why the correct answer is correct and why the other options are wrong.
Simple test strategy
- Answer calculation questions slowly.
- Underline units: inches, feet, gallons, days, trenches, excavations.
- Watch for words like minimum, maximum, not, should, and should not.
- Do easy vocabulary questions first if allowed.
- Review missed questions the same day.
Best practice order
Start with vocabulary, then rules, then calculations, then mixed exams. Mixed exams should feel harder because they force you to switch mental gears, just like the real test.
